2022 Conference Proposal Deadline Extended

Call for Papers: Louisiana State University Graduate History Conference

The History Graduate Student Association at Louisiana State University is delighted to announce the thirteenth annual Graduate History Conference for March 3-5, 2022. The conference allows graduate students from across the country to present their original and ongoing work in a professional environment and to receive feedback from their peers and experts within their field.

For this conference, our keynote speaker is Dr. Tyler Priest, associate professor of history and geography at Iowa University. His current research focuses on the study of environmental history, fossil fuels, and controversies surrounding natural resource extraction. “His most recent book project, Oceans of Oil: The Epic Struggles Over Offshore Drilling in the United States, examines the legal, political, and policy conflicts over offshore oil development from the 1920s through the Deepwater Horizon disaster.” His keynote speech, scheduled for the evening of March 4th is entitled “Shell Oil’s Deepwater Mission to Mars.”

As a graduate organization, we wish to connect with our fellow graduate students by sharing historical perspectives across departments and programs.
